Why ‘vunderbolt’? While we lived in Cleveland Ohio (USA) I received a letter addressed to Mr Thunderbolt. It was from someone who only heard my surname over the phone. My surname is ‘van der Walt’. In Afrikaans it is pronounced fun-duh-vault. Thunderbolt or my spelling of vunderbolt is actually close to that. What do you think?
I am using this blog/website to document and explore many of my interests:
- Graphs: Visual communication of information (graphs)
- Boomerangs: Designing, making and throwing of Boomerangs.
- Kites: I have various kites.
- Anything else that may interest me. At the moment I am creating a bottle rocket. I am very intrigued by the design of air valves and in particular fast release valves that are used in nail guns.
We live adjoining a school oval and I love playing with my “toys” there. I can handle any kind of weather. When it is windy I play with one or more of my amazing kites. If it is calm (no wind) one of my hundreds of Boomerangs will do the trick. Raining you ask? Well I have been known to test Boomerangs in the rain or pulling my sons around on skim boards in the puddles that are forming on the oval behind our house. There is something in me that loves running around in the rain.
